  • Regular fit, straight leg, mid-rise
  • Italian selvedge denim from Candiani
  • Durable construction, built for long wear
  • Made in Europe, cut and sewn in Portugal
  • Copper rivets and branded metal buttons
  • Signature Weirloom leather patch

The fit model in the studio shots wears a size 31. He's 173 cm (5'8") and 72 kg (158 lbs). Weirloom jeans fit like most other jeans. If you normally wear size 32 in Levi’s, choose 32 here.

About the founder

Who created these jeans

I’m Thomas, founder of Denimhunters. For nearly two decades I’ve worked with jeans—selling them in shops, writing about them, and analysing how different brands approach denim.

Weirloom is where I apply what I’ve learned to create the kind of jeans I’ve spent years recommending to others.

Slow denim, the original kind

What good denim looks like

Woven in Italy by Candiani on old-fashioned looms, this is selvedge denim made from 100% cotton with lots of texture and character.

The cotton is grown using regenerative farming methods—an important foundation for denim that’s meant to last long and age well.

Real denim like this can feel a bit tough at first. You have to break it in. Work with it a bit. Wear it for a week or two. It's jeans, not joggers.

It’s made to fade and develop character over time. The thick, ring-spun yarns and the open weave give it a slubby texture.

  • Yarn

    • Long-staple regenerative cotton
    • Ring-spun that soften with wear
    • Slubby with lots of ring character
  • Weaving

    • Woven on 1960s shuttle looms
    • The original redline selvedge
    • 14.25 oz., the ideal mid-weight
  • Dye and finish

    • Quick-fading Indigo Juice dyeing
    • Bio-based Kitotex sizing
    • Sanforized, singed, and raw

Wear them your way

Good denim gets better with wear

Some versions of these jeans are left raw. Others are washed for a softer feel from the start. Either way, the point is the same: good denim is meant to be worn, broken in, and lived with.

Raw denim can feel a bit stiff at first. Give it a week or two. Work with it a bit. It’s jeans, not joggers.

Washed versions feel easier from day one, but they follow the same logic. Wear them often, wash them when needed, and let the fabric settle into your life.

The denim is pre-shrunk, so you don’t need to worry about dramatic shrinkage. Washing changes the look more than the fit. It doesn’t ruin the jeans. It just resets the fabric.

Good denim doesn’t get worse with wear. It gets better.

How they are built

Made to last

Weirloom is a play on heirloom—something you keep, not replace.

These jeans are made with the kind of decisions that don’t show on day one, but matter every time you wear them. Strong stitching, reinforced stress points, and materials chosen to age well—not fall apart.

They’re built to wear in, not wear out.

  • Honest materials

    • Pure copper rivets from YKK
    • Solid metal YKK buttons
    • Genuine leather patch
    • 100% cotton denim
    • Organic cotton label
  • Hard-wearing construction

    • Core-spun poly/cotton thread
    • Heavy-duty pocket lining

  • Signature details

    • Weirloom back pocket signatures

    Original Weirloom arcuate

The back pocket signature on all Weirloom jeans, clean and classic.

  • Geniune leather label

The leather patch is stitched top and bottom (your belt won't cover it).

  • Selvedge on the fly

Normally only seen on jeans that cost way more than Weirlooms.

The root of the matter

Good denim starts with good cotton

The cotton used for Weirloom denim is grown using regenerative farming practices, age-old techniques like crop rotation and natural fertilisers.

The result is healthier soil, more biodiversity, more carbon sequestration and storing of atmospheric CO2, and less emissions released in the atmosphere.

This is a pretty big deal. Because cotton is a resource-intensive crop. It requires (a lot) of water and sunshine to grow. And just like in the food industry, farmers have been using fertilisers and pesticides for decades. Regenerative cotton is grown without any of that stuff.

The cotton is certified by the Regenagri initiative, which you can read more about on their website.

More Weirlooms

From the first jeans that launched Weirloom to new fits and the T-shirt that completes the uniform.

The soft start

The one-washed WL-001 'First Edition'

The story of the WL#1 began with the WL-001 First Edition, the first Weirloom jeans ever made. Those jeans launched as a pre-order project, with a small production run of just 92 pairs.

Like the WL#1, the jeans were cut and sewn in Portugal from the same Italian selvedge denim used today, in the same straight-leg fit and overall construction. A few details were different: the WL-001 'First Edition' had unbranded hardware and a jacron patch instead of the leather patch.

Feedback from customers who bought those first jeans helped me make a handful of small improvements that shaped the version that followed.

A few pairs from that original run are still available.

The next run

The raw WL-001 'Second Edition'

The WL-001 'Second Edition' followed the first run after the initial pre-order sold out.

It’s essentially the same jeans: the same straight-leg fit, the same Italian selvedge denim, and the same construction. The main difference is that the Second Edition was left raw — meaning the denim hasn’t been washed yet and will break in and fade entirely with wear.

Like the 'First Edition', it used unbranded hardware and a jacron patch.

A number of pairs from this second run are still available.

A slimmer option

The WL#2 Slim Fit

The WL#2 Slim Fit is built from the same foundation as the WL#1. It uses the same Italian selvedge denim, the same construction, and the same top block through the waist and hips.

The difference is in the leg. The WL#2 tapers slightly from the thigh down, creating a slimmer silhouette while keeping enough room where you need it.

Like the regular fit, the size range runs from 28 to 40—including the hard-to-find sizes 35 and 37. The jeans are sized like most European and North American brands, so there's no guesswork.

Good jeans deserve a good T-shirt

The Weirloom T-shirt

The WL-T is the T-shirt I made to go with the jeans. It’s cut from heavyweight organic cotton jersey, knitted and sewn in Portugal, with a clean fit that’s comfortable across the shoulders and slightly tapered through the body.

Simple, solid, and made to hold its shape through wear and washing.

Taking care of good jeans

Good denim changes as you wear it. Here’s how to break it in, wash it, and make it last.

Breaking in good denim

How to care for your jeans

Wear them as they are—or soak them first. If your jeans are raw (unwashed), you can wear them straight away or give them a cold soak before first wear—no soap, just water.

Make them your main pair. Fades come from friction. Don’t rotate with other pairs, just commit to these. Wear them daily, beat them up, and let your life leave its mark.

Delay the wash—but don’t fear it. Wait at least 2–3 months before the first wash. After that, wash when needed. Cold water. Inside-out. Mild detergent. Air dry. Always.

Repair early. Catching a worn spot early is easier (and cheaper) than fixing a blowout.

With proper care and timely repairs, you can get hundreds of wears. How you treat them affects how they age, and how long they’ll last.

To soak or not to soak?

The denim is sanforized, so shrinkage is minimal. But if your jeans are raw, I recommend soaking them before the first wear. It softens the fabric and helps set the creases that later become your fades.

How to soak:

  • Turn them inside out—this is crucial to avoid streaks.
  • Use fresh water at about 30°C (no soap; a splash of white vinegar is optional).
  • Soak for 30–60 minutes, then rinse.
  • Hang dry out of direct sun. (I dry mine in the shower—it’s slower, but safe.)

Optional: spin cycle to get water out—but only inside out.

After that, just wear them. Wash when needed—there’s no prize for never washing. Learn more about how to wash jeans on Denimhunters.
