Prices, VAT, and Duties
The prices you see depend on where you are. The shop automatically shows prices for your region, but you can manually switch to another region if you want to view prices elsewhere.
However, when you check out, the final price and currency are determined by the shipping address. Orders are always processed in the currency set for the destination country—you cannot overwrite or change this.
How Prices Are Set
I set all prices manually to keep them clean, simple and easy to understand. That means you won’t see odd numbers caused by automatic currency conversions. I apply this approach both inside and outside the EU.
Inside the EU
Prices within the European Union are calculated including VAT and thanks to the internal market, there are no customs and duties.
While VAT rates vary slightly between EU countries, I use a single rounded price across all EU markets. So the price you see already includes VAT, regardless of which EU member state you're buying from.
International markets (including the UK and Switzerland)
For destinations outside the EU, prices are set to reflect the fact that VAT isn’t included.
These prices do not include local taxes, import duties or handling fees. These additional costs are charged by your local customs authorities when the parcel arrives and are normally the responsibility of the customer. United States orders are handled differently—see the US section below.
In practice, you’re importing goods from the EU into your own market, and your local authorities apply their own tax rules. But because prices outside the EU don’t include European VAT (as much as 27%), the amount you pay at checkout is lower to begin with.
I cannot refund or reimburse customs duties, local taxes or handling fees charged on orders where these costs are the responsibility of the customer.
If you’re unsure about how this applies to your order, just reach out before you buy—I’ll be happy to help. Contact me here.
United States
Orders shipped to the United States are sent DDP (Delivered Duty Paid). That means Weirloom covers the import tariffs on US orders.
Prices shown for the US market still exclude European VAT, and local taxes or state-level charges may still apply depending on your location.
Why Prices Differ Between Regions
Prices differ between regions because of VAT and local tax rules. EU prices include VAT; prices outside the EU do not.
You might notice a change in price or currency when you switch region—that’s simply the system matching the right market.
When you check out, your final price always reflects the market and tax rules for your shipping address. You can’t “shop” in another region’s store to avoid local VAT or duties—the checkout automatically adjusts to match your destination.
Returns from Outside the EU
If you return an item from outside the EU, clearly mark the parcel as a return.
Any import charges or duties billed back to me because of incorrect labelling will be deducted from your refund.
Customers are responsible for ensuring all return paperwork and declarations are completed correctly to avoid re-import fees.
